Aboriginal Awareness Badge

For all youth groups such as Brownies/Guides, and Cubs/Scouts

  • The youth will learn about a very simple Native Ceremony called a smudging ceremony. Native people do this ceremony to help the individual have a day filled with a positive attitude, to help do good work, speak the truth, and follow a good path.
  • Discover your personal Spirit Animal and stone painting. The participants discover their personal Animal Spirit through a guided journey. They will discover the teachings of their spirit animal and paint it on a stone.
  • Drumming and rattling with storytelling. The youth will enjoy learning about the importance of the Native hand drum and playing Native chants and songs on the hand drums and rattles that we provide for them.
  • The youth will learn about the values and teachings of the tipi.
    Using the authentic method, they will construct a large tipi using the 15 poles.
  • Youth will participate in Aboriginal games.
  • Youth will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

Duration: 3 hours

Cost:

- cultural presentation: $267.00
- use of drums $1.00 per person
- Animal Spirit $2.00 per person
